The uPAR delivers reading passages from grade 1-10 in three formats: independent read, human audio recording and text-to-speech, followed by multiple choice comprehension questions. It auto adjusts and moves students to higher or lower grade passages depending on their performance. As the student completes the passages, it creates a user-friendly grid with easy to interpret results.
The book icon indicates the student's independent reading level and the face icon shows the student's actual grade level. The slide show below shows some sample results. This data has proven powerful for teachers to make informed decisions regarding reading accommodations. Even more important is that students can become better informed and empowered with knowledge regarding which “reading” format works best for them. It is another tool to help them on their journey to become “Expert Learners.”
