Universal Design for Learning is a set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn. UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone--not a single, one-size-fits-all solution but rather flexible approaches that can be customized and adjusted for individual needs.
This website shares the history and theory behind UDL, as well as some interactive activities to give you a better understanding of how to think about implementation of UDL practices.
Founded in 2009, the National UDL Center supports the effective implementation of UDL by connecting stakeholders in the field and providing resources and information about the basic concepts of UDL, research on the topic, and implementation strategies.
This site and its resources were developed by SET-BC (Special Education Technology – British Columbia) with support from the BC Ministry of Education (Department of Diversity and Equity). The content of the site was developed from a variety of print and online resources and is intended to provide K-12 educators with a starting point for implementing Universal Design for Learning in their classrooms. The website includes a variety of videos and a self directed 6 module course on the basics of UDL for educators.
