It's an exciting process to participate in. So far this month, Argyle MS, Parkland MS, and Loiederman MS have all hosted learning walks for others to learn more about UDL. In the next few weeks, Harmony Hills ES, Wheaton Woods ES, Weller Road ES and Kemp Mill ES will be hosting UDL Learning Walks in their schools. Great job of making the time to share the work of the UDL PLC with others!
Many of our UDL PLC Teams are in the process of putting together a UDL Learning Walk at their school. This event consists of a 1/2 hour introduction to frame the work for the session, some visits to classrooms of the UDL team members classrooms, and a debrief of the information that was gathered. During the debrief, participants discuss trends that they noticed across classrooms and also, highlights and upgrades for the visit. When participants are visiting classrooms, they use this Look Fors form to think about what they see in each classroom. This form reflects the things that teachers, who have been using the UDL framework to inform their work, have identified as things you might observe in their classrooms. This form is not meant to be a UDL checklist- just a tool to help participants to develop the "lens" for what they might see.
